The Full Satisfaction of God

Whom God

We come now to one of the most loaded verses in all of scripture.

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

I will spend quite a bit of time here in Romans 3:25 as the depth of doctrine in this verse is immense. Breaking this verse down we have several sections to discuss.

Whom God hath set forth. The whom here refers back to verse 24 speaking of Christ Jesus. To be a propitiation. Christ was the propitiation. This propitiation came through faith in His blood. This phrase has depth and meaning that is often misunderstood. All that was done here in the first portion of this verse was to declare His righteousness. God was righteous in remitting the sins of the past. God is forbearing toward sin, all of sin, waiting for the arrival of the propitiation that was Christ Jesus.

The whole of the story of salvation hinges upon the arrival of the propitiation. Let us now look closely into the depth of the word of God here declaring salvation by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
