Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
This prophecy in the book of Daniel speaks to the very heart of what we are studying. The law spoke of righteousness that would come by its fulfillment. The prophets spoke of that one who would fulfill the very righteousness of God. Righteousness is perfect obedience to God. It is obedience to the law from the heart to God.
Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
We can clearly see that Christ has made an end of sins, He has made reconciliation, and righteousness has come by Him. These came not before, not after, but when/where they were performed. Sin was not put away until it was sent away. Reconciliation was not made until that peace was made by His cross. Righteousness was not established until He was obedient unto death. Daniel is foretelling us of the one who would come and perform these actions. There is much more to talk about in this verse in Daniel 9 but I want to focus on that righteousness that Christ would come and earn and establish for it is that righteousness that God would impute.
Psalms 11:7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
